I am Currently Looking for Art, Gallery and Commercial Partners.
I really enjoy collaborating with creative people. Its like when you were a kid, making up games on the playground.
I think my challenge as an artist is to bring to life those visions in my head. However, Art is not a vacuum, it needs community. My crazy ideas need to be out there with your crazy ideas.
With that in mind, I'm looking for space to do art, show art, make with others, and in general create. I would like to hear what your next crazy idea is.
Contact me.
I made my first pot when I was 10, tagging along to my Mom’s art class.
It was the beginning of a love affair with pottery, art, and design. Throughout high school and college I lived in the studio. Arrive early, stay late, mix clay, load kilns, skip study period, sneak in at night; make pots.
My first shop was a corner in a local greenhouse, throwing pots and tying macrame hangers; partnering with the greenhouse owner and making custom bowls for local restaurants. It was a great gig that made way for a new family. As our family grew, my shop became the creative space where there was always room for work, play, and life; producing for gallery-partners and shows.
I hand-build now. There is a rhythm to hand-built pottery that is unique from the quickness and repetition of wheel thrown pots. Its a slower process of multiple touches, giving way to more intimate creation. I think of hand-built pottery as a prayer, a ballad, a long caress, a night-long talk; building patiently until the finish.
Clay in my hands is this remarkable, beautiful connection.
I have been blessed with the ability to see the world in certain shapes and colors.
So, with those two as a start, I get to make the stuff that I see in my head.
As an artist, it is your calling to bring to life that creation that only you are seeing. And, when you've done that, you have for the whole world, filled that empty space of doing nothing.
The pots in this website are a representation of my work and my creative direction, with the purpose of connecting with you to make more art. Although this site is not intended as a store, I am interested in speaking with you to explore commercial opportunities.
My pots are hand-built from slab and coil. I use a variety of stoneware clays. All pots are fired twice. Fully glazed pieces are watertight, and oven & microwave safe for food service. I leave the inside bottom of planters unglazed and include holes for drainage.
I hope you enjoy the pieces that are included here.
